Google it and you’ll find that Facebook active users worldwide are now at 2.7 billion
Instagram, on the other hand, has an active 1 billion users worldwide.
There's no doubt that the vast majority of the population in most of the world’s countries today have basic knowledge on using social media platforms.
But ,if you are one of the few people who still don’t know how to use these platforms, here is an initial guide in using two of the most widely used social media networks ever, respectively Facebook and Instagram.
Your beginner’s guide to Facebook and Instagram
Facebook and Instagram are social media platforms that connect people all over the world through an online network.
In these two platforms, you basically share virtually anything you want and interact with other people.
Facebook and Instagram users can contribute ideas and join conversations with other people who share the same or different interests.
Getting Started
Every user on these two platforms have profiles, where personal information such as name, address, birthdate, hometown, education history, interest, etc. are posted.
Everyone has an option to set that information to public or private.
Both Facebook and Instagram have a newsfeed.
This is a place where every story, topic, or interest appears.
A post describes what you share on the newsfeed.
The Differences
All the posts you share will get interactions and engagements from the people who are in your circle of network.
Technically, Facebook incorporates Friends and Followers, but Instagram only uses Followers.
When you add someone on Facebook as your friend, that person is yet to accept you as a virtual friend, but you automatically become their followers and get to know what they are up to, even if they didn’t accept your friend request.
On the other hand, Instagram doesn't have an option to send a friend request but rather uses a Follow button.
Following other people will make sure you see their posts in your feed, and vice versa.
The only users that you'll have to ask to follow are those who have made their account "Private."
You'll have to wait for that user to accept you before you can officially follow them, just like sending a friend request to someone on Facebook.
Both platforms have messaging features that you can use to message people directly.
Facebook has a stand-alone app called Messenger, while Instagram has a built-in messaging feature.
Latest Features
Other similarities between these two platforms are Lives, Stories, Marketplace, Pages, Groups, etc.
Both these two giant platforms have continuously improved for the past years and are seeking innovation for the years to come in order to achieve one goal: to connect the world.
